Keep your status
Residence Renewal in Madrid
Renewing your residence in Madrid on time protects your status and keeps the years counting towards long-term residence. We check the window, file the renewal with the Madrid foreigners' office and book your new card appointment.

What it is
Most temporary authorisations have to be renewed within a set window that opens shortly before the expiry date and stays open for a limited period after it. Filing within that window is what protects your status.
Renewals for people living in Madrid are decided by the Oficina de Extranjería for the province of Madrid, and are normally submitted electronically. Once approved, you need a new TIE with fingerprints at a Madrid police station.
Who needs it
- Students, workers and family members with an expiring permit.
- Non-lucrative and digital nomad residents in Madrid.
- Residents with five years who could apply for long-term residence.
- People who are late and need to know their options.
Documents you will usually need
- Passport and current TIE.
- Renewal application form.
- Evidence that you still meet the requirements (income, contract, enrolment, insurance).
- Padrón certificate from your Madrid address.
- Fee receipts.
Requirements depend on your type of authorisation. We prepare a list specific to yours.
